Julia Krasteva

Biography

In 1984 she graduated the Secondary School of Music “Veselin Stoyanov” – major violin, in Ruse. In 1997 she graduated opera directing at the New Bulgarian University.

As member of the orchestra she has worked at Shumen Philharmonics, at Burgas Opera and at Ruse Opera.

She has been an assistant of Plamen Kartaloff in the following productions:
“Turandot”, “Don Carlo”, “La Traviata”, “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, “Il Guarani”, “Fosca”, “Maria Tudor”, “Aida”, “Tsar Kaloyan”, “Il nozze di Figaro”, “Madama Butterfly”, “La Gioconda”, “Prince Igor”, “Un ballo in maschera”, “Lakmé”, “Don Qioxote”, “Le contes d’Hoffmann” and others.

As Director – Producer she realized the following spectacles:
“Pipi Longstocking” – musical for children by Dora Draganova at Burgas Opera in 1998, at Dramatic Theatre – Targovishte in 2003, at Pipi Children’s Musical Theatre – Sofia, National Palace of Culture in 2005;

“Die Kluge” – musical parable after libretto and music by Carl Orff at Konstantin Kisimov Musical and Dramatic Theatre, Veliko Tarnova in 2000;
“L’elisir d’amore” – opera buffo by Gaetano Donizetti at Stara Zagora Opera in 2002;
“Il campanello” – comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti at Blagoevgrad Opera in 2004;
“Madama Buttrefly” – opera by Giacomo Puccini at Ruse Opera in 2005;
“Yan Bibian” – rock misical for children by Dora Draganova at Pipi Children’s Musical Theatre in Sofia in 2006, National Palace of Culture;
“Il nozze di Figaro” – opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at Ruse Opera in 2006;
“Winnie-the-Pooh” – musical for children by Andrey Drenikov at Pipi Children’s Musical Theatre in 2007, in Sofia, National Palace of Culture, Hall 2;
“Die Zauberflöte” – adaptation for children – opera by W.А. Mozart at Sofia Opera in 2008;
“Petya and the Wolf” – symphonic fairy-tale by Sergei Prokofieff at Sofia Opera in 2008;
“Hänsel und Gretel” – opera for children by Humperdinck at Sofia Opera in 2008;
“Kale the Detective” – musical for children by Rumen Boyadzhiev at Pipi Children’s Musical Theatre in 2008, at the National Palace of Culture;
“Alice in Wonderland” – opera for children by Alexander Yosifov, with Children Vocal Ensemble to Nadezhda Cultural Club and Orchestra Sinfonietta 2008, at Nadezhda Municipal Cultural Instiyute.
“Shegonishko on the Island of Wonders” – musical for children by Georgi Kostov at Sofia Opera in 2009;
“Pipi Longstocking” – musical for children by Dora Draganova at Children’s Musical Theatre 2009, National Palace of Culture.

Since 1997 she has been working as Assistant Stage Director at Sofia Opera.
In 2004 she founded Pipi Children’s Musical Theatre to Dr. Petar Beron Cultural Club, Sofia.
She speaks Italian and French.
