CONCERT FOR BABIES

More than 10 years ago one of the best initiatives of the Sofia Opera started – a programme for the youngest ones called "Concerts for Babies". Since then, over 700 performances have been realized, attended by over 50 000 babies with their moms, dads, grandparents.

The brilliant idea of Acad. Plamen Kartaloff to create an experience for the youngest enjoyed huge success and gained wide popularity in society. Through Concerts for Babies the Sofia Opera nurtures and educates its future audience, shows children how wonderful the world of opera, ballet and musical is, reveals the magic of instruments and the magic of the stage. I Want a Baby Foundation is a supporter of this wonderful initiative.

The driving force behind Concerts for Babies, as well as the entire Programme for children of the Sofia Opera, is the director Yulia Krasteva. She shapes and arranges the programmes for the Concerts. And they are so interesting and fun every time...

Concerts for babies are also organized outside the Sofia Opera – for the past three years in the park of the Academy of Defence during the Opera in the Park Festival in June and July.

In these Concerts take part the theatre's youngest artists: Anna Vutova, Kalin Dushkov, Georgi Dzhanov, Rada Toteva, Alexandra Nosikova, Tsvetiana Kostova, Elena Kozhushkova, Maria Nosikova.

Over the years, part of the programme has established itself with its hit songs – "Welcome" and "Musician" by Maria Momirova, "Hey, little hands", "Sing, the thumbs are jumping", "Miracle turnip" by Dobri Hristov, etc.

The program of the Concerts includes well-known melodies, but also songs, arias and duets, ensembles from the classical repertoire: Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Brahms, Mozart, Alexander Vladigerov, Georgi Kostov, Alexander Raichev, from the classical operas "Hansel und Grätel", "Die Zauberflöte", etc. The music is presented with arrangements for piano, violin, flute and clarinet, oboe and percussion.

Children can freely interact with their favourite artists, and the slightly elder ones can play and sing along with them.
