Biography

Violeta Radomirska was born in Sofia, where she has given many concerts as a member of the Children's Radio Choir since she was a child. She completed her musical education at the State Academy of Music, and since 1996 she has been a student of the renowned mezzo-soprano Alexandrina Milcheva.

In 1999 she became a member of the International Opera Studio in Zurich, where she remained until 2001.

In 2002 she received the “European Encouragement Award” (“Le Prix Européen d'encouragement”) from the European Cultural Foundation, which annually awards 10 outstanding young musicians from across Europe.

At the Zurich Opera, she has appeared in numerous productions such as “Salome”, “Sly”, “Le donne curiose”, “Hernani”, “Rigoletto”, “La Belle Hélène” and has sung under the baton of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Nello Santi, Valery Gergiev, Marcello Viotti, William Christie and others.

Between 2002-2006 Radomirska was part of the Lucerne Opera company, where she performed in “Carmen”, “Die Zauberflöte”, “Armida”, “Die Fledermaus”, “Dido and Aeneas” and numerous concerts. In June 2002, she participated in a performance of Szymanowski's “Stabat Mater” in Milan with the RAI Orchestra conducted by Arnold Bosman.

Since 2004 Radomirska was part of the company of the Opera de Biel (Switzerland), where she performed many central mezzo-soprano roles: “Cinderella”, “Le nozze di Figaro”, “The Atlantic Kaiser”, “Montagues and Capulets”, “La clemenza di Tito”, “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, “Orfeo and Eurydice”, “Rinaldo”, “Orlando”, “Wilhelm Tell”, “Otello” by Rossini, “Tancredi”, “Così fan tutte”, “L’italiana in Algeri”, “Don Giovanni”, “La Belle Hélène”, “Idomeneo”, “Die Fledermaus”.

In 2012 she participated in the recording of a disc of the opera “Le donne Curiose” by Ermanno Wolf Ferrari with the Munich Radio Orchestra. In 2013, she took part in a performance of Verdi's “Requiem” at KKL Lucerne (Switzerland) and guest starred in Aachen (Germany) in the title role of Handel's Ariodante and Rossini's “Il barbiere di Siviglia”. In June 2013 – “Giulio Cesare” and “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi, Bach.

Since 2014 she has been a freelance performer and has taken part in a number of concerts and productions, including “Stabat Mater” (Pergolesi), “The Armed Man” (Karl Jenkins), “Stabat Mater” (Karl Jenkins), “Requiem” (Mozart), “Stabat Mater” (Rossini), “Il campanello di notte” (Donizetti), “Carmen”, “Eugene Onegin”, “La vie parisienne”, “Stabat Mater” (Dvořák), a number of baroque works, etc.

In the 2017-2018 season she took part in “La forza del destino” in Plovdiv, Verdi's “Carmen” and “Requiem” at Sofia Opera, “La vie parisienne” in Zurich, concerts in Zurich, Lucerne, Delémont (Switzerland). 

In the 2018-2019 season she made her debut at La scala di Milano in “Elektra” (R. Strauss).

She has performed at the Sofia Opera in “Carmen”, “Eugene Onegin”, Verdi's “Requiem” with the Sofia Philharmonic, concerts in Zurich, Lucerne, Munich.

In the period 2019-2023 on the stage of the Sofia Opera she performed the roles of Carmen, Amneris (“Aida”), Olga (“Eugene Onegin”), Malika (“Lakmé”), Malcolm (“La donna del lago”, Eboli (“Don Carlo”), Anna Karenina, Polina (“The Queen of Spades”), Neris (“Medea”), as well as concerts with the Sofia Philharmonic, Pleven Philharmonic, the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra, etc.
