Biography
Marta Petkova Petkova was born in Sofia.
In 1995 she enrolled the State Choreography School in the class of Rumyana Atanasova.
In 2002 she joined the troupe of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, and in 2007 she became prima ballerina.
She took part at the Ballet Festival in the Kazan Kremlin, dedicated to Nureyev. Guest in the troupe in Palermo and Naples. She took part at the Stars of Ballet Festival in Saratov. She was guest-performer at the Bolshoi Theatre in 2018 with the ballet “Le Corsaire”. Guest-performer at the Mariinsky Theatre, Vladivostok, with the ballets “Giselle” and “Le Corsaire”. Guest at the Oslo Opera House, where she worked with Natalia Makarova; in Finland – Helsinki; Germany –Magdeburg.
On the stage she was partner with the greatest ballet stars: Kimin Kim, Vadim Muntagirov, Svetlana Zakharova, Denis Rodkin and others.
Awards:
1999 finalist at the international ballet competitions in Tallinn – Estonia and in Luxemburg.
2000 at the Anastas Petrov National Ballet Competition, she was awarded the Grand prix, as well as the Special Prize of the Dobrich Municipality.
2000 she was awarded the “Sylvia Ko” Prize – Japan, for young hope at the Varna International Ballet Competition.
2002 she was awarded the Grand Prix of the Fivizzano International Festival – Italy.
2006 she was handed out an award from the Ministry of Culture for young talent.
2011 she was handed out the Crystal Lyre Award for achievements in the ballet art and the ballet “Swan Lake”.
2019 she was handed out an award for overall contribution in ballet art.
