Biography
For Vittoria Yeo the way from Seoul to the world opera stages is not so long, because the great opera singer – Raina Kabaivanska held out her hand to her in time. “When the help is immediate, it is double and undoubtedly brings result – pointed out Vittoria. The South Korean soprano graduated in opera singing in Seoul and improved herself in the master classes of Mrs. Kabaivanska, at the Chigiana Academy in Siena, at the Vecchi-Tonelli Music Institute in Modena and at New Bulgarian University. The soloist appearances of Yeo were at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Arena di Verona, Teatro del Maggio in Florence, Teatro Farnese in Parma, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
In 2017 Vittoria made an impressive debut in “Aida” at the Salzburg Festival, under the baton of Riccardo Muti. After that for her followed other brilliant appearances. Today Yeo is a name in the world of Opera. And to the question which are the most precious lessons, which Vittoria received from Raina Kabaivanska, she answered: “Most of all the singing technique, and it is not simple at all. For example, when I was preparing for my role in “Madama Butterfly”, Mrs. Kabaivanska knew the secret traps of this role. Then she was often telling me not to overdo and give 100% of myself and keep forces for the culmination of my role. In 2010 I took part in Raina Kabaivanska’s master class at New Bulgarian University and after that I will never forget the wonderful concert of the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra.”
According to Vittoria Yeo, since you are a singer, you must always have the courage to stand face to face with the audience. It is obligatory to know Italian, the language of Verdi and Puccini, to be self-confident, but often to have doubts in your abilities. This is the way to check how far you have mastered the role, which you are going to perform.
