On 11 and 12 June on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet will be performed the ballet “Le Corsaire” by Adolphe Adam.

The classical ballet “Le Corsaire” attracts the attention of the spectators still since its creation – with the interesting, full of dynamism and hot passions contents, in which love wins, with its ornate costumes and the exquisite performance of the soloists and the ballet company of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
“Le Corsaire” is one of the well-known classical ballets, which we included with great joy in our repertoire” – pointed out Sara-Nora Krysteva, Artistic Director of the ballet company of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
Choreographer of the production is Eldar Aliev, а world-known ballet dancer, choreographer and pedagogue, who in 2014 was in the jury of the International Ballet Competition in Varna. The choreographer has excellent impressions from each member of the ballet company of our first theatre, from the discipline and the talent of the artists, who Sara-Nora Krysteva directs.
Aliev is not just a choreographer. He is author of the libretto of the original and dynamic version of the work of art.

He was born in Baku, where he graduated from the Choreography School. In the period 1979 – 1992 he was leading soloist of the Kirovsky (Mariinsky) Theatre. In his artistic repertoire are lead parts in the ballets “Don Quixote”, “Legend of Love”, “Swan Lake”, “La Bayadère”, “Spartacus” and many others.
The geographic region of Eldar Aliev’s guest-performances span over more than 40 countries around the world and the most prestigious stages: Kennedy Center in Washington, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Opéra national de Paris, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Covent Garden and London Coliseum, Staatsoper Berlin, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Sydney Opera House, etc.
Since 1992, he has been working in the USA, where he was invited as leading soloist in the company of Ballet International (Ballet Theatre of Indianapolis), and soon after he became its Artistic Director.
