THE MESSAGES OF “NORMA” BY VINCENZO BELLINI – “MOZART FROM CATANIA”

The rich palette on the playbill of the Sofia Opera and Ballet offers its audience the exciting experience with the opera “Norma” by Vincenzo Bellini, the opera known as a top of beautiful singing, the style bel canto.

The production of the great stage director Hugo de Ana, with a flavour of exciting film suggestion, gives a new life to the title. “Norma” by “Mozart from Catania”, as Bellini was called, is not only a real apotheose of beautiful singing, but also of a moving feeling of lyrics and tragedy. Norma’s prayer “Casta diva” captivates the soul of modern man, it wakes the romantic in us.

The soloists of the Sofia Opera create the vocal beauty of Bellini’s masterpiece, displayed in Hugo de Ana’s production and in the imposing costumes by Cristina Aceti.

Our well-known artists give life to their characters in this moving production. These are Gabriela Georgieva in the role of Norma, Kostadin Andreev – Pollione, Svetozar Rangelov – Oroveso, Gergana Rusekova – Adagisa, Ivanka Ninova – Clotilde, Krasimir Dinev – Flavio.

Conductor of the spectacle is Zhorzh Dimitrov.
