Lianghua Gong was born in XinYu, People's Republic of China, in 1983. From 2001 to 2005, he attended GuangXi Art College, majoring in singing. After studying the German language, he enrolled in the vocal studies program at the University of the Arts Berlin, under the guidance of Prof. Robert Gambill, in 2007. Since 2008, he has been a scholarship holder of the Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft e.V. in Berlin. Lianghua Gong has received numerous awards, initially in the field of pop singing and later in classical singing. This includes winning the first prize at the 2004 “Yiyuan Bei” competition in Nanning, as well as the first prize at the International Singing Competition Klassik-Mania 2010 in Vienna.
In 2009, he began his engagement with the role of Physician in “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Philip Glass at the Schlosstheater Neues Palais of Sanssouci Potsdam, directed by Achim Freyer and conducted by Michael Sanderling. One month later, he celebrated his first major engagement at the National Opera Athens, portraying the Duke Bertrando in Gioacchino Rossini's “L'inganno felice”.
In January 2010, he had the pleasure of performing his solo concert with the Berliner Symphoniker at the Berlin Philharmonie (Zentralsaal).
From 2011 onwards, he was frequently engaged as a young talent by the Musikverein Graz. There, he performed roles such as Edoardo in Gioacchino Rossini's “La cambiale di matrimonio” with L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Peppe in Donizetti's “Rita” (directed by Peter Patzak), and in 2012, he celebrated with Maestro Adam Fischer and the Graz Philharmoniker at the Mozart Requiem.
From September 2016 to March 2017, Lianghua Gong toured as the Marquis de Chateauneuf in “Zar und Zimmermann” with the Landestheater Detmold, spanning from Germany to Switzerland.
From 2012 to 2019, Lianghua Gong was an ensemble member at the Theater Bielefeld, where he showcased his versatility in singing roles ranging from Baroque to Modern, including the High Priest in Handel's “Saul”, Don Ramiro in Gioachino Rossini's “La Cenerentola”, Dorvil in Rossini's “La scala di seta”, Tamino in Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”, and Nemorino in Donizetti's “L'elisir d'amore”.
From 2019 to 2021, Lianghua Gong was invited by Opera Gdansk in Poland to perform as Carlino in “Bucefalo”, Il conte Almaviva in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, and Nadir in “Les pêcheurs de perles”.
In April 2021, Lianghua Gong participated in the film production of “Don Giovanni” by Grand Opera Avignon, portraying the role of Don Ottavio. During the summer, he once again took on the role of Don Ramiro in “La Cenerentola” at the Immling Festival.
In 2022 and 2023, he returns as a guest to the Theater Bielefeld. There, he takes on the role of Brighella in “Ariadne auf Naxos”, Triquet in “Eugene Onegin”, and once again performs as Il conte in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at Opera Gdansk.
From 2022 to 2024, Gong Lianghua was again engaged as a guest soloist at the Theater Bielefeld, performing Brighella in Strauss’s “Ariadne auf Naxos”, Triquet in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin”, and the large-scale “St. John Passion”. In December 2024, Gong Lianghua was invited by the South Westphalian Philharmonic Orchestra to once again perform Mozart’s grand oratorio “Requiem”.
In 2025, he received an invitation from the Grand Opéra d’Avignon in France to once again perform Don Ottavio in an opera.
