With the arrival of these instruments continues Sofia Opera director Plamen Kartaloff’s care for renewing and maintaining the Sofia Opera and Ballet orchestra instruments’ level.
During the performances, the audience will have the opportunity to hear the sound of the Oberrauch German trumpet system, the new Yamaha trumpets, Schmid French horns, Courtois and Thein trombones as well as the Rudolf Meinl tubas which are already in the hands of the Sofia Opera and Ballet orchestra musicians’ hands.
These are boutique hand-made instruments of exceptionally high quality: Oberrauch trumpets are made in South Tyrol, Italy; Yamaha trumpets: in Japan; Courtois trombones: in France; Thein trombones: in Bremen, Germany; Schmid French horns and Rudolf Meinl tubas: in Germany.
The leading world opera and symphony orchestra use instruments of a similar class: La Scala, the Berlin and Paris opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna philharmonic etc.
Thanks to prof. Kartaloff’s prudent leadership, the brass troupe’s instruments were completely replaced with new ones.
