This is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Emanuel Schikaneder’s message in “The Magic Flute”.
The beautiful melodies and philosophical ideas dating back 235 years came to life on stage through Vera Petrova’s director’s decisions, Molly O’Catton’s stage concept and Marta Mironska’s costumes. Under the conductorship of Svetoslav Borisov and with the participation of the Sofia Opera and Ballet lead singers, orchestra, choir and ballet ensemble; choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova; also starring children from the “Talasamche” children’s choir formation with tutor Dimitar Kostantsaliev.
Lucie Kankova was again brilliant as the Queen of the Night; Eleonora Dzhodzhoska-Mladenova portrayed a gentle Pamina and Stanislava Momekova: a playful Papagena. Maria Pavlova, Natalia Stoyanova and Alexandrina Stoyanova-Andreeva performed impressively as the Three Ladies in this second performance as well. Ruzha Lalovska and Magdalena Popova as the three boys masterfully guided the protagonists on their path towards love. Biser Georgiev (Zarastro) led the ones in love towards the light and Hrisimir Damyanov (Tamino) confidently passed all trials. Atanas Mladenov was again an inspired Papageno. Also starring: Plamen Dimov-Grandzhan as Monostatos as well as Nikolay Voynov, Takuya Suzuki, Stepan Morozov and Kiril Konstantinov.
