Some curious facts!
“Macbeth” has a special place in Verdi’s legacy with its dramaturgy, the choir’s exceptional role and the masterfully crafted characters and their psychology. This is the composer’s first opera inspired by one of William Shakespeare’s works. “Macbeth” has two edits: an Italian and a French one. The composer himself defines his work as key to his own development where the score directly serves the drama.
The opera premiered on the 14th of March, 1847, in Florence. Verdi dedicated “Macbeth” to his friend and benefactor Antonio Barezzi, father of his first wife.
Don’t miss the premiere performances of “Macbeth”: five evenings during which the opera will reveal the darkest corners of the human soul.
Yours,
The Sofia Opera and Ballet
P.S. On the 8th of March, expect the visit of the exceptional singer Jessica Pratt and her performance in the opera gala “Delirium” under the conductorship of Daniel Oren.
