Three “Oberrauch” trumpets and one “Thein” trombone are already in the hands of our Sofia Opera and Ballet orchestra members. On Friday, the instruments were unpacked on stage in the presence of Plamen Kartaloff and the Sofia Opera orchestra and team.
“Oberrauch” trumpets are top tier German make instruments famous for their exceptionally warm timbre, good articulation and wonderful intonation. They’re the preferred pick in all world opera theaters where pieces by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss are set.
“Thein” trombones are establishing themselves as one of the highest-class professional brass instruments distinguished by their exceptional level of craftsmanship, their precise mechanics and their rich, balanced timbre. Every instrument is a custom, individually created model crafted by hand with attention to detail which allows for maximum adherence to the needs and preferences of the musician. “Thein” has a rich assortment: from piccolo and alt trombones to bass and double-bass variants including typical German style instruments which are sought after because of their specific sound and orchestral tradition. Along with all this, the company crafts historic replicas and specialized orchestra models by embedding its own innovative materials among which the so-called K-Style metal stands out.
With the arrival of these three new instruments, Plamen Kartaloff, director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, continues his care in renewing the Sofia Opera and Ballet orchestra’s instruments and maintaining them at a high level.
