Orlin Pavlov and Vesela Delcheva to star in the “Les Miserables” musical on the 24th of July in Sofia

The Sofia Opera will set the most produced musical of all time: “Les Miserables”, based on the novel by Viktor Hugo, in front of the “St. Alexander Nevsky” cathedral.

The premiere will take place on the 24th of July, with a total of nine performances to take place until the 2nd of August.

“We’re building the stage. It’s a big one”, singer Orlin Pavlov revealed on the “Bulgaria sutrin” show.

“It’s the first time something on this scale is being done in Bulgaria”, singer Vesela Delcheva added.

Tickets are already almost sold out so fans need to hurry.

“I’ll have the honor of entering the role of Fantine: it’s a very deep and emotional character. This is the hardest psychological portrait I’ve had to embody thus far. She is ready to do anything to save her sick child. She’s prepared to sell everything, even herself, just to save her child”, Delcheva shared for Bulgaria ON AIR.

Pavlov will portray Javert: a merciless police officer who is the very embodiment of the law.

“Javert believes even small children must be severely punished for their mistakes. It’s a very hard role to play. In the end, he undergoes a huge catharsis and dies a slightly better man which is something quite huge. There is a lot of contrast in the production. We’ve got children dying at the barricades as well as an enormous love being torn apart by bullets”, the singer explained.
