Five facts about “Das Rheingold”

1. The world premiere of “Das Rheingold” took place on the 22^nd of September, 1869, at the Munich national museum. As part of the “Der Ring des Nibelungen” tetralogy, it was first performed on the 13^th of August, 1876, when the festival theater in Bayreuth opened.

2. The first production of the opera “Das Rheingold” in Bulgaria premiered on the 31^st of October, 1943, with conductor Asen Naidenov and director Hans Meisner.

3. Sixty-seven years later, on the 22^nd of May, 2010, Plamen Kartaloff began producing the “Der Ring des Nibelungen” tetralogy precisely with the opera “Das Rheingold” with the idea that in 2013 the 200^th anniversary of the composer’s birth would be solemnly celebrated.

4. Since 2011, a children’s adaptation of “Das Rheingold” was produced for a chamber stage with director Yuliya Krasteva which is still successfully performed today.

5. The third Bulgarian premiere of “Das Rheingold” took place on the 8^th of July, 2023, with conductor Konstantin Trinks and director Plamen Kartaloff. The new production of the “Der Ring des Nibelungen” tetralogy in 2023 was dedicated to the 210^th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s birth.
