Rossini was 25 years old when he wrote "La Cenerentola", but he already had behind him a string of operatic gems such as "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", "Tancredi", "L’Italiana in Algeri" and others.
The opera "La Cenerentola" is considered one of the finest scores for voice and ensemble. The overture to "La Cenerentola" is frequently performed in concert programmes. Almost throughout the 19. century, its popularity was compared to that of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia".
