Acad. Plamen Kartaloff on art being more than just diplomacy
The Zagreb national opera’s visit in Sofia is a remarkable cultural and diplomatic event. It’s an example of how opera serves as a living bridge between our nations and cultures, encouraging friendship, mutual understanding and shared values.
We wholeheartedly welcome the Zagreb Opera in Sofia. This event will show how music and art can bring together artists and entire nations, establishing connections which transcend words. The Croatian national theater’s presence in Sofia is of great significance for our cultural exchange and cooperation. It is a true example of how the art of opera is diplomacy, a bridge of friendship between Bulgaria and Croatia. The Sofia Opera and the Zagreb Opera are teaching us this lesson right now, with the opera “Lennon” by Ivo Josipović being presented on the 5th of September in Sofia and the Sofia Opera’s “Die Walküre” by Richard Wagner being presented at the Zagreb opera festival on the 15th of September, this year.
Good luck!
Acad. Plamen Kartaloff, director of the Sofia Opera
