The opera singer Martin Iliev was a guest on Darik Radio’s afternoon block. He commented on his upcoming performances, including “Cavalleria Rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni and “Pagliacci” by Ruggiero Leoncavallo.
Iliev graduated from the music school in Stara Zagora and the National music academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, under prof. Resa Koleva. He made a singing career as a baritone with over twenty main roles performed but in 2005, he focused on the dramatic and heroic tenor repertoire.
Both premiere operas: “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci”, are bound together by the great theater of passion.
“What binds these operas is that emotional, honest and human experience of love, jealousy and hatred with a catastrophic ending: murder. So, the dramaturgies of both operas are similar in the sense that in the theater of passion relationships and characters are born: incredibly powerful and impactful, like a blast wave in which all protagonists move”, Plamen Kartaloff commented on the two performances.
On the 11th of October, the premiere of the two operas took place.
