After the Sofia Opera’s triumphant tours in Japan and the wild applause of the audience in Istanbul and Ankara, this night the Bulgarian audience was enchanted by the performance of the opera “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini. Two weeks ago, the Sofia Opera opened its new season abroad at the international opera festival in Zagreb and the thrilling performance on the 26th of September celebrated the new opera season in Bulgaria.
Under the conductorship of the exceptional maestro Daniel Oren, viewers enjoyed the performance of internationally acknowledged opera singers Maria Jose Siri (Floria Tosca), Stefan Pop (Mario Cavaradossi), Claudio Sgura (Baron Vitellio Scarpia) and their Bulgarian colleagues Angel Hristov, Petar Buchkov, Emil Pavlov, Alexandar Georgiev, Maria Pavlova.
With the participation of the Sofia Opera orchestra and choir; choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova, and the Sofia boys’ Choir with conductor Alexandar Mitev.
Plamen Kartaloff’s directorship captivated viewers in a deeply emotional way and they did a standing ovation. The singers, the conductor, the director and the orchestra received huge flower baskets.
The second performance of “Tosca” will take place on Sunday, the 28th of September, at 4pm.
