The maestro believes art can raise a new generation which doesn’t fear classical music
In a world where political noise often stifles meaningful conversations, there are people who create things that last. Among them is Prof. Plamen Kartaloff: the man who turns the Sofia Opera not only into just a stage but into a cultural space as well through which Bulgaria speaks to the world with confidence and self-esteem.
“There is no success without strategic imagination”
When asked how one creates worldclass level culture in a country where we often talk of survival, Prof. Kartaloff answered that everything begins with the ability to think beyond the present.
“Historically, the process of ascent in politics and art is a result of strategic imagination. Without it, there is no revolution, no dialectic to drive future ideas: ideas which lead not to decadence but to overcoming the trials society faces, be they economical, political or demographic”, Kartaloff said at the “Denyat ON AIR” studio.
“Our spirit must not despair”
On the eve of the 24th of May, the academician also spoke of spirituality: not as an abstract notion but as a choice not to let pessimism define our society.
“Spirituality means not paying mind to everything that surrounds us, to not fall into pessimism and despair of the spirit”, the maestro shared.
