VLADIMIR STOYANOV WILL SING TOGETHER WITH CARLO COLOMBARA IN "NABUCCO" ON 27 MARCH

Sofia is the third stage on which the renowned baritone will be Nabucco

The renowned Bulgarian baritone Vladimir Stoyanov will recreate the character of the Babylonian king Nabucco, and the world-known bass Carlo Colombara will sing Zaccaria at the concert performance of Nabucco on 27 March at 19.00 h at Sofia Opera and Ballet. In the second spectacle from the cycle Tutto Verdi as Abigaille will take part the soprano Bayasgalan Dashnyam, student of Ghena Dimitrova. On the stage will appear Krasimir Dinev – Ismaele, Tsveta Sarambelieva – Fenena, Angel Hristov – High Priest of Babylon, Plamen Papazikov and Svetlana Pravcheva. Erich Wächter will be conductor of the spectacle, dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the great Bulgarian bass Boris Christoff.

Sofia is the third stage on which Vladimir Stoyanov will sing after Peking in April 2013 (where the same role was performed also by Placido Domingo) and Bologna in October past year. Many times before he had received invitations for participations in this work by Verdi which he declined.

“You cannot sing Nabucco when you wish, you must be ready for this role”, is Stoyanov’s conviction. That is why he approaches with exceptional responsibility and precision to his rehearsals at Sofia Opera and Ballet. The baritone is fully aware of the difficult times for the opera theatres, in which “there is no more audience which cannot be chased away, the maniacal admirers from the recent past are missing”. The credo of one of the most successful Bulgarian voices is that it is not important where you started from; the important is where you will get to. And he adds that opera is changing, but the modern must be introduced with logic and good taste.

For Carlo Colombara, declared as Verdi bass, the role of Zaccaria is not a new one. In the past season he performed it in a participation of Oper Stuttgart on the stage of Arena di Verona. The Sofia audience remembers his last performance as Ramfis in Aida in February 2014. Forthcoming is his guest-performance as Filippo II in the opera Don Carlo on 31 May. The spectacle is dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the great director Mihail Hadzhimishev.

The soprano Bayasgalan Dashnyam made her debut as Abigaille at the State Opera in Constanta, Romania, in 2003. She performed the role also on the stages in Bucharest, Burgas, Stara Zagora Solothurn and Skopje. From the 23 spectacles of Nabucco played by her up to now, 11 times she recreated this role on the stage of Sofia Opera and Ballet.

Nabucco is the second spectacle from the cycle Tutto Verdi with the participation of Vladimir Stoyanov. Music lovers will have the chance to enjoy also the gala concert of the famous baritone on 30 March at 19.00 h. Vladimir Stoyanov will perform arias from the operas La forza del destino, Macbeth, La traviata, Luisa Miller, I masnadieri and Un ballo in maschera.
