THE CONDUCTOR GRIGOR PALIKAROV ABOUT THE OPERA “LA CENERENTOLA, OSSIA LA BONTÀ IN TRIONFO” (“CINDERELLA, OR GOODNESS TRIUMPHANT”)

Rossini’s style is unique in the world music treasury – however light and “innocent” it may seem, the more difficult for achievement it is – both for soloists and orchestra. “La Cenerentola” is one of the masterpieces of the great composer and it is a challenge to present it in the jewel style in which it is composed. As conductor of the production I have developed my own concept about this work and I have worked persistently and in detail with all participants in the spectacle, in order to obtain the necessary artistic result. I hope to have it at the premiere which I am already expecting with impatience.

The reading of the famous fairy-tale is slightly “modified” by Rossini himself with the purpose of achieving maximal closeness to reality and in this reading I find much sense. Yes, the opera is filled with many comic situations, but the most important idea is drawn up as subtitle by the composer, and namely – “goodness triumphant”.
