The comic opera “La Cenerentola” by Gioachino Rossini with premiere on 20 March

On 20 March is forthcoming a special premiere at Sofia Opera and Ballet. The spectators will have the chance to see “La Cenerentola, ossia La bontà in trionfo” (“Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant”) – comic opera in two acts by Gioachino Rossini. The libretto was written by Jacopo Ferretti and it was drawn on the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault.

The opera “La Cenerentola” is considered to be one of the finest writing for solo voice and ensemble. Because of lack of time, the composer wrote the entire opera in three weeks.

Rossini was 25 years old when he wrote “La Cenerentola”, but he had already behind him opera masterpieces as “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, “Tancredi”, “L’italiana in Algeri”.

In the last decades, there were made many recordings of the opera, and in the standard list of most performed operas it holds number 28 among several hundred titles of the active opera repertoire. On the stage of Sofia Opera and Ballet, the work was not set for more than 30 years.

This season on the stage of Sofia Opera and Ballet the work’s interpretation will be done by the director Vera Petrova, costume designer will be Hristiana Mihaleva, and set designer – Boryana Angelova. Conductor will be Grigor Palikarov.

The premiere spectacles of “La Cenerentola” will be on 20, 21 and 22 March at 19.00.

Tickets for the opera “La Cenerentola” at prices of BGN 10,- to 50,- are already in sale at the Ticket office of Sofia Opera and Ballet, 1, Vrabcha Str., online and in the Eventim distribution net.
