At her birthday the opera prima prepares her gala concert on 18 December at the National Palace of Culture
At 15 December 2014 the great opera actress Raina Kabaivanska will celebrate her 80th Birthday. The series of events in her honour, which have been held all the year long, will finish with the Jubilee Charity Concert “Raina Kabaivanska presents the stars of opera”. The concert will take place on 18 December 2014 at 19 h, in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture with the orchestra of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, under the baton of maestro Nayden Todorov.
Organizers of the gala concert “Raina Kabaivanska presents the stars of opera” are New Bulgarian University, together with the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the National Palace of Culture. The event will be held with the special support of Sofia Municipality, America for Bulgaria Foundation, Fantastico, Alpha Bank – friends of long years of the master classes of Raina Kabaivanska. The jubilee year of Raina Kabaivanska is under the patronage of Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
During the whole 2014 year have continued the events connected with the Anniversary of the great opera prima. In September at Sofia Opera and Ballet was held the XIV International master class of Raina Kabaivanska. Also in September was opened the big exhibition, dedicated to the world career of Raina Kabaivanska. In December will take place the presentation of a new audio CD with unknown performances of the opera prima.
The concert, with which will be celebrated Raina Kabaivanska’s birthday, will take us into the golden age of the art of the opera not only for one moment, but it will grant the audience what it most wished after the fall of the Curtain – to become part of the success of the Kabaivanska School. Regularly, in different spectacles of Sofia Opera and Ballet, have taken part singers from the Kabaivanska School.
The funds from each purchased ticket will support the next generation of young opera singers and the cause of Raina Kabaivanska to endow her experience and talent.
