The Sofia Opera and Ballet Wagner festival opened on the 26th of May with “Das Rheingold” and an exceptional singer’s ensemble and a brilliant orchestra.
The roles were performed by established and much applauded performers such as Veselin Mihailov (Wotan), Plamen Dimitrov (Alberich), Daniel Ostretsov (Loge), Krasimir Dinev (Mime), Stefan Vladimirov (Fasolt), Petar Buchkov (Fafnir), Silvana Pravcheva (Freja), Svetozar Rangelov (Donner), and Stanislava Momekova, Ina Petrova and Alexandrina Stoyanova-Andreeva as the Rhein maidens. A brilliant debut by Vesela Yaneva (Frika), Violeta Radomirska (Erda) and Emil Pavlov (Fro).
Conductor: Konstantin Trinks; director: Plamen Kartaloff. With the participation of children from NUMSI “Hristina Morfova” Stara Zagora with tutors Krasimir Kashev and Mirena Mitreva as well as children from the “Masha Ilieva” Ballet school.

The Sofia Opera Wagner festival is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the premiere of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” which took place in 1876, in Bayreuth.
