On the 25th of April, 1926, at the legendary Teatro alla Scala, “Turandot”: Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, came to life for the first time; the piece which gave the world the immortal “Nessun dorma” aria and remains a symbol of greatness, dramatism and love.
In honor of this anniversary, the Sofia Opera includes this piece in the repertoire of the summer festival “Opera at the Square”: one of the most awaited cultural events of the season.
Under the stars, in front of the magnificent “St. Alexander Nevsky” temple, from the 9th of July till the 9th of August, Sofia will once again transform into an open stage for big opera performances.
The audience will enjoy iconic titles, international guests, impressive voices and evenings with a unique atmosphere in the heart of the city.
