The Sofia Opera and Ballet is joining the campaign “Zonta says no”!

Our first opera and ballet theatre is joining the campaign “Zonta says no”, which is being held every year from 25 November – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to 10 December – the World Human Rights Day.

This year will be celebrated 70 years from the signing of the Declaration of Human Rights of the UN. The campaign is a part of the UN campaign “Orange the world” for the elimination of violence against women and girls. “Zonta International” is one of the oldest and influential organizations in the world, working for raising of the status of women, which in 2019 will be 100-year old.

“Zonta Club of Saint Sofia” is initiator for the third year and will start the activities with the lighting of the National Palace of Culture in orange. On the façade of the Palace will drop an immense transparent with the symbol of the campaign: part of a female face and an eye with a tear.

The campaign is supported by the Sofia Elektrotransport. Put in motion will be an orange retro tram, branded with the symbols of the campaign.

“Zonta Club of Saint Sofia” will be 15-year old and from this year on the campaign is expanding and to it are joining the Sofia Opera and Ballet, Women’s Market, the Selena Association of Women Entrepreneurs. During the sixteen days in the foyers of the Opera before the spectacles, at the Women’s Market, in the tram, in front of the National Palace of Culture will be distributed information leaflets and materials for raising of our society’s sensibility for the topic.

The Sofia Opera and Ballet will provide tickets for visit of spectacles to women and children from risk groups.

On 10 December will be held a discussion for the economic empowering of women and the women’s entrepreneurship, in which will take part all partners.

It is time to work all together for prevention and overcoming of the violence and the aggression!
