Dear viewers,
In relation to the performance of “Swan Lake” which took place on 05.07, 20:00 at Pancharevo Lake, we would like to inform you that according to the Sofia Opera general terms and conditions for open stage performances:
- (1) Returning a ticket or exchanging it for a ticket for a different performance is not allowed except in cases where said performance hasn’t taken place, has been cancelled or interrupted midway due to reasons within the SOFIA OPERA’s control. Such reasons are NOT considered unforeseen or insurmountable circumstances such as force majeure, involuntary acts, acts committed by third parties, declaration of war, state of emergency or similar, a coup d'État, natural disasters, other emergencies, epidemics, worsening of meteorological conditions during an open stage performance including moving said performance to a different date and/or place because of said reason, artist illness, technical difficulties such as loss of power or heating and other circumstances of an emergency nature. In all aforementioned cases, the SOFIA OPERA can explicitly give instructions regarding the performance being postponed for a different date/stage and/or the exchange/reissuing of purchased tickets. In order to avoid all conflicts, a performance is considered to have taken place if it has been performed until the middle of Act I.
(2) In cases of open stage performances which haven’t taken place due to being cancelled, interrupted or have started late due to the worsening of meteorological conditions, the SOFIA OPERA retains its right to relocate said performances to a closed stage if possible and if circumstances allow or to move them to a different date and/or place without owing a refund or any other kind of reimbursement for purchased tickets. In such cases, the previous paragraph takes effect unless the SOFIA OPERA has explicitly made a public message stating otherwise.
On the day of the performance of “Swan Lake”, 05.07, we consulted the National meteorology and hydrology institute and they confirmed it was NOT expected to rain on that day. Relocating a performance last minute from one stage to another is practically impossible. After the pouring rain stopped, immediate actions were taken on drying up the stage and stands. Due to low temperatures and the accumulated condensation on stage, the performance had to be cancelled after the beginning of Act II in order to preserve the health and safety of our ballet artists.
Audience buffets during open stage performances are NOT serviced by Sofia Opera employees. Bringing food and drinks to the stands is not allowed. Indicative signs have been put up and the servicing personnel has informed all viewers of this.
We kindly ask the viewers who have purchased tickets for open stage performances to consider bringing outdoor clothing during their visit.
With respect,
The Sofia Opera and Ballet team
