Trifon Mitev

Biography

Trifon Mitev was born in Sofia. He graduated from the State Choreographic School in the class of Rumen Rashev (a graduate of St. Petersburg and at that time premier soloist of the Sofia Opera).

In 1989 he joined the company of Sofia Opera and Ballet. In 1991-1992 he danced with the Royal Walloon Ballet – Belgium.

He returned to the Sofia Opera, where he went through the entire ballet repertoire from ensemble to premier soloist of the theatre.

Even before graduating from the State Choreographic School, he began dancing with the Arabesque Ballet, where, now as a ballet dancer, he continues to guest perform with the company.

Later he was a guest soloist of Plovdiv Opera, Burgas Opera, Ruse Opera, with which he had a long period of collaboration and many performances and trips abroad.

Repertoire:

He danced the first parts in almost the entire ballet repertoire of Sofia Opera and Ballet:

"A horse chasing the wind"; Jester, and later Prince Siegfried in "Swan Lake"; "Giselle"; "Don Quixote"; "Sylphide"; "The Sleeping Beauty"; "Cinderella"; "Serenade"; "Allegro brilliante"; "The Goat's Horn"; "Romeo and Juliet"; "Le Corsaire"; "Scheherazade"; "The Mole"; "Carmen"; "La Bayadère"; "Carmina Burana" (several versions); "Triptych", "The Firebird"; "Wedding"; "A Legend of the Lake"; "Suite in White", etc.

He danced with the Bulgarian ballet primas Maria Ilieva, Vesa Tonova, Dilyana Nikiforova, Marta Petkova, Katerina Petrova, Sara-Nora Krysteva, Vesela Vasileva, Mariana Kruncheva and others.

He works with the most prominent choreographers, tutors and dancers of the Bulgarian and world ballet.

He has toured and performed almost all over Europe, North and Latin America and Japan.

Winner of the Crystal Lyre.

Graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv, majoring in Ballet Pedagogy.

Teaches classical ballet at the National School of Dance Art.

Currently a répétiteur of the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
