Biography

Rumyana Petrova was born in the city of Stara Zagora.  She graduated from the Music School and the Musical Academy in Sofia with specialty in piano.

She started singing on the stage of the Musical Theatre, and by 1980 she joined the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

The singer takes the central mezzo-soprano roles in operas by Verdi (“Rigoletto”, “Il trovatore”, “Otello”), Rossini (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”), Gounod (“Faust”), Mozart (“La clemenza di Tito”), Bizet (“Carmen”), Puccini (“Gianni Schicchi”) and many others. Rumyana Petrova has performed numerous concerts of chamber music, cantatas and oratorios. She has done numerous tours in Europe, USA and Japan.
