Biography
Luciano Di Martino is an Italian conductor internationally recognised for his musical sensitivity, precision and spontaneity of interpretation.
He studied conducting at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, furthering his training with internationally renowned maestros including Valery Gergiev, Myung-Whun Chung and Ilya Musin.
Since 2008, he has collaborated with the Hamburg State Opera. His international career has taken him to prestigious venues including the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and the Sofia Opera and Ballet. In the 2025/26 season, he made his debut with the Vienna State Ballet.
From 2014 until July 2026, he served as conductor and artistic director at the State Opera in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
His repertoire ranges from opera to ballet, with particular emphasis on the dialogue between orchestra and stage and on balancing stylistic rigour with musical expressiveness.
