Biography
Leo Mujić graduated from the Ballet School in Belgrade and the school of Maurice Béjart in Lausanne. After a successful ballet career on European and world stages, the internationally acclaimed ballet artist dedicated himself to choreography. He choreographs ballets for which he often writes librettos and selects music. He presents an interesting contemporary style that successfully combines modern, classical and neoclassical elements. A compelling artist, Leo Mujić has been invited to stage his works for a number of ballet truopes in the most renowned theatres and schools in Europe. These include the Berlin State Ballet, Slovenian National Theatre Maribor, Ljubljana, Dance Academy Zurich, Dutch National Ballet Amsterdam, Paris Opera Ballet (solo for Aurélie Dupont), Friedrichstadt Palast Berlin, Croatian National Ballet Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Augsburg, Riga, Tokyo City Ballet and many other stages. In recent years, the choreographer has turned to dramatic subjects inspired by great works of literature. He has staged “The Great Gatsby”, “The Glembaev Family”, “Orpheus”, “Scheherazade”, “Dangerous Liaisons”, “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, “Anna Karenina”, “Pride and Prejudice”. For the Opera Open 2022 festival at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, Leo Mujić is staging Anna Karenina to music by Tchaikovsky. For his first encounter with the Sofia Opera Ballet, Mujić made a new edition of "Anna Karenina" with changes in the choreography as well as in the lighting of the spectacle.
