Biography

Soprano Brigitta Simon was born in Budapest (Hungary) and received her initial musical education in Győr. After high school graduation, she began her vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she completed her diploma in Opera singing with summa cum laude (2014), her master’s degree in Lied and Oratorio (2018) and in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (Classical Singing, 2018).

She has been awarded numerous prizes at national and international singing competitions. In 2009 she was a finalist in the “Operalia” singing competition. As a
special prize, Maestro Plácido Domingo invited her with the winners of the Operalia as a guest singer to his concert in Pécs (Hungary), where she was able to sing two arias and two duets with him personally.

She made her debut on the opera stage in 2010 at the Steyr Music Festival with the role of Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni. In 2011 she was a participant in the "Young Artist Program" at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia (Spain). After successfully completing the program, she was hired for further productions in the 2011/2012 season at the opera house due to her convincing artistic work.

Performances all over the world followed. She performs as a soloist with various orchestras and has sung on famous stages in Europe, like the Great Hall of the Philharmonie Berlin and the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Vienna.

Concerts and engagements have taken her to the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Musikverein
Graz, the Festival Hall of the Hofburg Vienna (opening of the 57th Kaffeesiederball), to the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Vienna State Opera, the Stefanien Hall in the Graz Congress, the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, the Latvian National Opera in Riga, in the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, in the Hercules Hall at the Munich Residence, in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, as well as at the Werdenberg Castle Festival in Switzerland, at the Festival Autumn Days Blindenmarkt in Austria, at the Arctic Opera Festival in Tromso, at the Festival de Teatro Lirico Español in Oviedo and to the Festival "Bascarsija Nights" in Sarajevo.

Outside of Europe, she has sung in Tunisia (Festival international de musique
symphonique d'El Jem), Egypt (Cairo Opera House, Alexandria Opera House), China
(opening of the Kempinski Vienna Ball in Beijing), Canada (Living Arts Center in
Mississauga, Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver) and South Korea (Seongnam Arts Center in Seoul), Japan (Daiichi Seimei Concert Hall in Tokyo) and in the USA (Symphony Center in Chicago).

She has appeared on the opera stage in roles such as Lucy (Menotti: The Telephone), Belinda (Purcell: Dido and Aeneas), Susanna (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Adele (Strauss: Die Fledermaus), Queen of the Night (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Olympia (Offenbach: Les contes d'Hoffmann), Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Pelzchen (Von Einem: Tulifant), Violetta Valéry (Verdi: La Traviata) and Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen).

In the course of her artistic career to date, she has had the pleasure of working with
renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Ruggero Raimondi, Zubin Mehta, Helmut
Deutsch, Uwe Theimer, Kálmán Berkes, Lior Shambadal and many others.
