Biography

Engineer, set designer and light designer from Italy

Andrea Tocchio began working in the theater since 1992, ranging from prose to dance, from opera to cinema, in different countries and continents of the world, after having studied music and attended the Academy of Dramatic Art. He graduated in Engineering from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome and completed his training by studying set and lighting technology.

He becomes assistant of Sergio Rossi, Italo Grassi, Vincenzo Raponi, Pasquale Mari.

Since 1998 he has been working as assistant director of Piero Faggioni, Lindsay Kemp, Marco Gandini, Ivan Fischer, Alfonso Signorini, Stefania Sandrelli. He works as a scenographer and light designer carrying out various projects in Italy, Bulgaria, Holland, Georgia, Belgium, Brazil, Estonia, Hungary, France, Spain, Germany, Montenegro, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia.

Over the course of over 150 productions, he collaborates with artists such as Marco Gandini, Cesare Scarton, Giuliano Montaldo, Hugo De Ana, Luciano Damiani, Franco Zeffirelli, Robert Wilson, Chris Krauss, Gigi Proietti, Quirino Conti, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Leo Izuka, Stefania Panighini, Michel Compte, Carla Fracci, Gianluca Schiavoni, Dante Ferretti; Claudio Abbado, Enrico Melozzi, Alberto Veronesi, Daniel Oren, Giovanni Sollima.

He is Technical Director of the Reate Festival and is part of the Valle Occupato Theater in Rome. He collaborates with BFZ Budapest philharmonic orchestra and as technical director and lighting designer with the Clandestina Night Orchestra and on tour and with the 100 cellos Orchestra.

He designed the staging and lighting for the 100 cellos and the PFM at the Dubai Expo and the Ravenna Festival;
