We at the Sofia Opera and Ballet express our apologies towards you: due to the imposed financial regulations due to the lack of an active state budget for 2026 we have been forced to cancel all performances, part of the “Opera at the Square” summer festival at St. Alexander Nevsky square during the 9^th of July – 9^th of August 2026 period, namely: “Cavalleria Rusticana”, “Pagliacci”, “Les Miserables”, “The Hermit of Rila” and “Turandot”.

We’re expecting you throughout the new season of 26/27!

To those of you who have purchased tickets for the festival, we offer the following alternative options of your choice for reimbursement of which you may take advantage from 11.06.26 till 31.07.2026, included:

1. Exchanging purchased festival tickets for ones for a different performance or a performance of your choice, part of the Sofia Opera repertoire.

Already purchased tickets for a performance, part of the festival repertoire, may be exchanged for tickets for a performance of your choice from our upcoming repertoire, from the same price category. If the price of the new seats is lower than your ticket price, the difference will be reimbursed in cash. In case you pick higher priced seats, you will have to pay the difference in price. It’s necessary to present printed online tickets or tickets and a receipt at the box office at 1, “Vrabcha” str., Sofia. The exchange is absolutely free during the aforementioned time period and you will be not be taxed in any way.

2. Receiving a voucher with the same value as the purchased festival tickets.

In case you wish to receive a voucher with the same value as the purchased tickets, it’s necessary to present your printed online tickets or your tickets and receipt at the box office at 1, “Vrabcha” str., Sofia. The voucher is valid for six months after the issue date and may only be used to purchase tickets for performances of your choice, part of the Sofia Opera repertoire.

3. Reimbursing the paid sum for purchased festival tickets

In case you choose to be reimbursed for the purchased tickets, it’s necessary to present your printed online tickets or your tickets and receipt at the box office at 1, “Vrabcha” str., Sofia. in which case you will receive the sum in cash.

If you wish to receive the sum by bank transfer, please send your request to sales@operasofia.bg, attach your online tickets and write the bank account holder’s three names and IBAN. It is only possible to be reimbursed by bank transfer for tickets purchased online and paid for by bank transfer! The timeline for receiving the sum is up to thirty days after sending an online request.
