The Sofia Opera Wagner festival ended on the 14th of July. The significance of this event is very big, most of all because the Wagner festival boosts Bulgarians’ self-esteem, journalist Miglena Stoicheva admitted on the “Denyat zapochva” show.
The Sofia Opera attracts the most well-prepared opera audience consisting of Wagnerians, Wagner fans and accumulates a worldwide sensation. The Sofia Opera does this alone, without outside funding: singers, technician teams and creative potential while there is a lack of any big Wagner tradition, she added.
Wagner fans gave their opinion on the grand scale of the event:
Wagner’s pieces are very complex universes. His entire work is an example of Gesamtkunstwerk because the operas contain very complex references to one another. If you’re not acquainted with Wagner’s work, you won’t be able to track its evolution and enjoy it”, Miglena Stoicheva added.
