The Sofia Opera received two more 2025 “Impulse” awards.
The Sofia Opera ballet ensemble won the 2025 “Impulse” award for Ballet production of the year: “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergei Prokofiev.
Our exceptional ballet dancers were also nominated in the same category for the production of “The Great Gatsby”.
Our national ballet ensemble is the face of Bulgarian dance art: a perfect synthesis of tradition, talent and inspiration which turns every performance into a celebration of beauty and dance.
We’re happy to announce that Sofia Opera lead ballet dancers were nominated in five out of a total of nine categories.
The Sofia Opera lead dancer Simeon Atanasov won the award in the “Classic ballet performer: men” category.
Kaloyan Boyadzhiev won the “Production or adaptation of an existing classic ballet piece” award for his choreography and directorship of the “Romeo and Juliet” ballet by Prokofiev, performed by the Sofia Opera ballet. Kaloyan Boyadzhiev is the Norwegian national ballet ensemble ballet master and has won many prestigious international awards.
Leo Muic was nominated in the same category for “The Great Gatsby”.
Choreographer Margarita Arnaudova posthumously received a special award for her overall contribution to the development of Bulgarian dance.
The fifth “Impulse” award ceremony took place at the “Ivan Vasov” National theater.

In November, you will be able to see the Sofia Opera ballet perform in “Zorba the Greek” on the 12th of November and in “Le Corsaire” on the 22nd and 23rd of November. “The Great Gatsby” and “The Nutcracker” will be performed in December and will bring the holiday spirit to all.
