Ballet fans will once again be able to see “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in Oleg Danovski’s production which has been performed over 150 times since its premiere in 1996.
The myth of “Zorba the Greek” has always been accepted as a symbol of man’s strive for freedom. Immortalized in Nikos Kazandzakis’ novel and Mikis Theodorakis’ score, Lorca Massine’s 1995 take is one of the most successful productions in the Sofia Opera and Ballet’s history.
Our ballet troupe will recreate another literary masterpiece with Anna Doneva’s choreography. William Shakespeare’s timeless comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is brilliantly transformed by Felix Mendelssohn’s score.
Starring Sofia Opera premiere lead ballet dancers Marta Petkova, Katerina Petrova, Boryana Petrova, Nikola Hadzhitanev, Emil Yordanov, Tsetso Ivanov, Frederico Pinto, Vincenzo Caruana, the Sofia Opera corps de ballet.
With the support of the Sofia municipality, part of the 2026 cultural events calendar and under Sofia mayor Vasil Tersiev’s patronage, part of the “Opera at the Park” program.
