Asmik Grigoryan, one of the most thrilling contemporary singers, will arrive for a grand gala evening on the 14th of November at the Sofia Opera.
After having triumphantly opened the new Sofia Opera season with “Tosca”, Maestro Daniel Oren will conduct Asmik Grigoryan’s Bulgarian debut, the Sofia press center announced.
The singer has chosen several wonderful arias for her concert in Sofia in which she will perform as a starkly dramatic singer but also as a gentle and loving woman. We will hear her as Lady McBeth from “McBeth” by Verdi as well as arias from “Madama Butterfly”, “Tosca” and “Manon Lescaut” by Puccini. The evening highlight is Tatyana’s letter scene from “Eugene Onegin” by Tchaikovsky and the song to the moon from “Rusalka” by Dvorzhak.
The Sofia Opera orchestra and choir will enrich the evening with several of the most impactful instrumental and choir fragments from “La forza del destino”, “McBeth”, “Nabucco”, “Madama Butterfly” and “Manon Lescaut”.
Asmik Grigoryan’s life has revolved around opera ever since her early childhood. Her father is Gegam Grigoryan: one of the most famous opera singers, both in Russia and internationally. Her mother is also an opera singer: Irena Milkevičiūtė. Asmik Grigoryan has twice been dubbed “Singer of the year”.
“She was Salome in Hamburg, Turandot in Vienna, Lisa in Munich. That’s why Asmik Grigoryan will without a doubt again be pronounced “Singer of the year” for her performances in these roles”, the prestigious “Opernwelt” magazine stated.
“Her soprano voice enchants with its dark tones and its incomparable glamor in the high register”.
“Asmik Grigoryan is a first-class opera artist”.
“Grigoryan has a deep, strong and stable voice with a gracefully feminine timbre”.
These are just some of the exalted reviews of her performances. During this season, Asmik Grigoryan will again successfully combine famous opera rolls with exquisite chamber performances at Europe and the USA’s biggest theaters. She will be Desdemona at the Royal theater in Madrid, Salome at the Hamburg Opera, Senta in Monte Carlo, Cho-Cho San in Berlin, Turandot in Dortmund, Salome and Lady McBeth in Munich, Manon Lescaut in Barcelona, Tatyana in New York and Vienna.
She will tour at Carnegie Hall, La Scala, in Rome, Zurich, Vienna and Madrid with several different concert repertoires.
