Another triumph at the National Opera

The spectacle "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini, directed by Hugo de Ana, with which our beloved soprano Gabriela Georgieva celebrated 20 years artistic activity, greatly excited the audience, which thanked with applause and ovations to the entire team of the performance.Andtherewasareason!

Spectators, who regularly attend performances of leading opera houses in Europe, the United States and South America, shared in front of "Zhivotat Dnes" their enthusiasm for the exceptional level of the production with conductor Zhorzh Dimitrov, the undisputed vocal and artistic performance of Gabriela Georgieva, Tsvetana Bandalovska, Martin Iliev, Svetozar Rangelov, Boyka Vasileva. In front of our team Prof. Sabina Zaharieva, endocrinologist and enlightened music lover, said that she had never heard such an impressive, pure and beautiful duet of Norma and Adalgisa, although she had seen Bellini's masterpiece many times around the world performed by famous artists.

And those who have understood this can truly enjoy performances, such as what has become a holiday, not just "on the playbill", but because of the enormous creative energy that the Opera has shown.

And this is not a surprise, because the Sofia Opera and Ballet not only withstood and withstoods the crises, but it proved its atypical for a cultural institution firmness in pursuing its mission. It did not bow to the pandemic and the economic difficulties, some of which were caused by – to put it mildly – the strange rules and understandings of the Ministry of Culture for financing the performing arts. But this is a separate big topic. The important thing today is that the Opera is again working at full capacity, the variety of spectacles for adults and children is enormous, and the director, Acad. Plamen Kartaloff, makes also the impossible that limited finances do not affect the quality. And this has already been proven many times in recent years – at the Sofia Opera and Ballet there are no compromises with art. I hope that those, from who depends the state's support for the most complex and difficult for realization stage art, will understand that every lev invested here returns immeasurably more by creating and educating people, not population ...
