On the 13th of November, during a grand ceremony in Athens, the winners of the International opera awards were announced. At around 10pm, the award in the “Best female singer” category was bestowed to Asmik Grigoryan.
The first stage performance of Asmik Grigoryan, this year’s best female singer, is today, at the Sofia Opera under the conductorship of Daniel Oren, with the participation of the Sofia Opera orchestra and choir. Asmik Grigoryan will perform arias from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Dvorzhak.
The International opera awards announced their 2025 winners. Among the singers who won the biggest awards were Marina Rebecca who won the prestigious “Viewers’ choice” award; Adèle Charvet and Hugh Cutting received the “Rising star” award. Nicholas Brownlee won the “Male singer of the year” award and Asmik Grigoryan: the “Female singer of the year” award. Agnes Baltsa received the award for her overall achievements.
Miss Grigoryan received this high honor for her performances at the Paris national opera: the three soprano roles in “Triptych” by Puccini with conductor Carlo Rizzi and for the role of Salome in a concert performance with the London symphonic orchestra under the conductorship of Antonio Papano.
The Greek national opera hosted the awards ceremony. Live from the “Stavros Niarhos” foundation Cultural center in Athens, “OperaVision” broadcasted the entire ceremony consisting of an exciting roster of categories and performances by leading artists.
Founded in 2012 and known as the opera “Oscars”, the International opera awards are a yearly celebration of great achievements on the world opera scene. The awards aim to acknowledge and award success, to give scholarships to rising talents and to boost the popularity of the opera genre.
This year’s jury consisted of opera professionals and was helmed by John Alisson, editor of the “Opera with Opera News” magazine.
