Francesco Rosa began his conducting career in 1994 with the operas “Rigoletto” and “The Barber of Seville”. During the next few years, he conducted in many Italian opera theaters in cities such as Padua, Venice, Bologna, Rome, Naples, Florence as well as in Spain and Japan. His engagements also encompass Nice, Belgrade, Sofia, Ljubljana and St. Petersburg.
From 2000 to 2003, he was the assistant to Daniel Oren (whom we will see again in Sofia on the 7th of November) in productions for the Opera Bastille in Paris and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Then, he worked as a music director and conductor for four years in Naples. Since 2008, he has been a guest conductor at the Sofia Opera.
He has a huge repertoire in different styles but his one great love remains the Italian bel canto opera.
Francesco studied piano, composing and conducting at the conservatories in Rovigo and Bologna. He later majored in composing under Wolfango Dalla Vecchia and conducting under the Bulgarian conductors Lyudmil Deshev and Emil Chakarov.
In Sofia, Francesco Rosa has conducted “Medea”, “Adriana Lecouvreur”, “Cavalleria Rusticana”, “Lakme”, “Tosca”, “The Barber of Seville”, “Il Tabarro”, “Aida”, “Lady of the Lake”, “Gianni Schicci”.
Director: Plamen Kartaloff. This is an international coproduction between opera theaters in Modena, Piacenza, Rimini and Sofia.
