On the 4th of April, Lazarus Saturday, the “Richard Wagner” opera club gathered the audience for its traditional matinee dedicated to the productions of Richard Wagner’s works at the Sofia Opera.
Plamen Kartaloff, the performances’ director, shared with the audience his ideas on the Wagner festival’s creation. He also shared details on his meetings with different Bulgarian and foreign Wagner fans and on the invitation to present the Sofia festival at the world organization “Opera Europa” forum which brings together about 270 opera companies from all over the world.
Petar Galev: the chairman of the Wagnerian society in Bulgaria, was also present.
Alma-Lisa Bandalovska, Daniel Ostretsov, Ventseslav Anastasov and Biser Georgiev took part in the repertoire: under Agnes Dankova’s piano accompaniment, they performed select fragments from “Lohengrin and “Tannhäuser”.
Violeta Radomirska performed Erda’s aria from “Das Rheingold” with the accompaniment of Stoyan Martinov. During this year’s Wagner festival, Violeta will debut as Erda and Waltraute in “Götterdämmerung”.
Yuliya Krasteva, production assistant director and moderator Svetlana Dimitrova accented on the opera lyrics and the emotional charge Wagner’s score and script carry.
