We’re happy to share that the Sofia Opera’s production of the opera “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner will be broadcast on Bulgarian national television.
On the eve of Richard Wagner’s birthday on the 22nd of May, viewers will be able to see the three parts of the opera on the 19th, 20th and 21st of May, consecutively, right after the evening news emission, at 23:25.

The documentary recording was shot on the 13th of June, 2024, during the Sofia Opera’s traditional Wagner festival.

Kostadin Andreev (Lohengrin); Tsvetana Bandalovska (Elsa von Brabant); Gabriela Georgieva (Ortrud); Ventseslav Anastasov (Friedrich von Telramund); Biser Georgiev (King Heinrich); Atanas Mladenov (the king’s messenger); Kalin Dushkov (Duke Gottfried)
With the participation of the Sofia Opera orchestra and choir (choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova) and the BNR male choir, with choir conductor Lyubomira Alexandrova.
Konstantin Trinks conducts this premiere performance.

“Lohengrin” is set following Plamen Kartaloff’s director’s concept and vision who also directed the television recording.
Scenography: Plamen Kartaloff, with close collaboration with Hans Kudlich, Sven Yonke, Gudrun Geiblinger, Nela Stoyanova and Kristiyan Stoyanov. Costumes by Italian designer Mario Dice; artistic lighting: Zack Blaine; laser effects: Michael Zollinger.
