An amazing triumph for “Les Misérables”

An exceptional performance with exceptional artists, orchestra, choir, directorship and scenography!

Hundreds of viewers enjoyed all of this last night when they saw the first open stage performance of the “Les Misérables” musical, story by Alain Boublil and score by Claude-Michel Schönberg.

The revolutionary idea of setting “Les Misérables” at “St. Alexander Nevsky” square is Plamen Kartaloff’s. To bring his vision to life, he chose two symbols: the cathedral and the square. The cathedral represents faith, silence and moral order and the square is a place brimming with life where fateful events transpire. The majestic “St. Alexander Nevsky” cathedral rises above the square not just as a décor but as a silent witness to this dramatic story of battle, conscious, morals, love and patriotism.

The audience’s enormous excitement could be felt throughout the entire night. After the end of the performance, viewers wildly applauded the ensemble: Vladimir Mihaylov as Jan Valjean; Orlin Pavlov as inspector Javert; Vesela Delcheva as Fantine; Veniamin Dimitrov as Marius; Denitsa Karaslavova as Eponine, Alexandra-Yoana Alexandrova as Cosette; Plamen Dimov-Grandzhan and Vesela Yaneva as the Thenardier family; Emil Pavlov as Enjorlas; children actors Nikol Veselinova and Maxim Petkov. With the participation of the Sofia Opera ensemble and orchestra, under the conductorship of Konstantin Trinks (choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova).

“Les Misérables” performances” continue up until the 2nd of August.
