IVAN MOMIROV WILL BE GUEST-PERFORMER IN “DON CARLO” ON 1.03 AT 19.00 h.

The well-known Bulgarian tenor Ivan Momirov will be guest-performer in the role of Don Carlo in the work of the same name by Verdi at Sofia Opera and Ballet on 1 March at 19.00 h. In the production directed by Plamen Kartaloff, which marked a quarter of a century of our first opera theatre in 2013, will take part also Svetozar Rangelov, Niko Isakov, Petar Buchkov, Dimitar Stanchev /Monk/, Radostina Nikolaeva, Daniela Dyakova, Antonia Ivanova, Hristina Buchkova, Georgi Dukov, Elena Stoyanova, Alexander Georgiev, Anton Radev, Vanyo Dimitrov, Lachezar Lazarov, Stoil Georgiev, Stoyan Balabanov. Conductor will be Grigor Palikarov.

Ivan Momirov graduated the Music Academy in Sofia in 1997, later he specialized in Barcelona by the Spanish tenor Francisco Lázaro. In the same year, he made his debut on the stage of “Deutsche Oper” in the role of Vladimir from “Knyaz Igor” by Borodin.

In 2000 he took part in one spectacle for the opening of the opera season in Monte Carlo in the role of Des Grieux in “Manon” by Jules Massenet. Immediately after, he presented a succession of main roles on opera stages as “Covent Garden” in London, “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma”, “Teatro Carlo Felice” in Genoa, “Teatro Reggio” in Parma, “Teatro San Carlo” in Lisbon, “National Theatre” – Tokyo, “Teatro Giuseppe Verdi” in Trieste, as well as one participation at the opening of the new theatre in Rotterdam.

The succession of festival guest-performances was on the stages in Baden-Baden, “Giuseppe Verdi” in Parma, “White nights” of the Mariinsky theatre in St. Petersburg, the Opera Festival in Bregenz and others.

He has collaborated with conductors as Valery Gergiev, Nello Santi, Bruno Bartoletti, Michel Plasson, Marc Minkowsky, Daniel Oren.

He appeared on the stage with artists as Nicolai Ghiaurov, Renatto Bruzon, Mariella Devia, Carlo Colombara, June Anderson, Larissa Diadkova, Daniela Barcelona and Ghena Dimitrova.  

He has taken part in productions of Werner Herzog, Andrei Konchalovsky, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Ermanno Olmi, Alberto Fassini and others.

The repertoire list of Ivan Momirov includes more than 20 roles, among which Don Carlo “Don Carlo”, Ricardo “Un ballo in maschera”, Manrico “Il trovatore”, Carlo VІІ “Giovanna d’Arco”, Oronte, “I Lombardi”, Alfredo “La Traviata”, Ismaele “Nabucco”, Jacopo “Il due Foscari” – Giuseppe Verdi, Cavaradossi “Tosca”, Rodolfo “La Bohème”, Pinkerton “Madama Butterfly” – Giacomo Puccini, Pollione “Norma” – Vincenzo Bellini, Des Grieux “Manon” by Jules Massenet and others.

Ivan Momirov has won first prizes from many national and international competitions.
