GEORGI KIROF WILL MAKE HIS DEBUT AS TIMUR IN “TURANDOT” ON 23.02

The bass Georgi Kirov will perform for the first time the role of Timur in the opera “Turandot” by Puccini on 23 February at 16.00 h
Georgi Kirov graduated the French Language School and after that he continued his education at the Academy of Arts in Rome by Nicola Ghiuselev.

He made his debut in France as Tom from “Un balo in maschera” by Verdi in 1996. In Bulgaria his first appearance was as Don Basilio at Varna Opera in 1997.  

His first participation at Sofia Opera and Ballet was in the season 2000-2001 – Osmin from “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” by Mozart of the producer Plamen Kartaloff. At our first opera theatre he developed a wide repertoire with the main bass roles, among which Sparafucile, “Rigoletto”; Fafner, “Das Rheingold”; Timur, “Turandot” and others.

He has sung on the stages in Munich (Sir Giorgio Talbot) in “Maria Stuarda”, together with Krassimira Stoyanova and Alexandrina Pendatchanska – 2011, Salzburg (The Grand Inquisitor) from “Don Carlo” by Verdi – 2003, for ARTE TV in Marseille – Il Commendatore from “Don Giovanni” by Mozart, for the Spanish television in Valencia – Zaccaria from “Nabucco” by Verdi.

He has been guest-performer in Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland in the operas “Don Giovanni” (Mozart), “Don Carlo” and “Aida” (Verdi), Fiesco from “Simon Boccanegra”. He has sung on one stage with the tenor Stephen Costello. Before him in 2015 is to make his debut as Varlaam in “Boris Godunov” in Savonlinna, Finland with Matti Salminen and José Cura.
