Bulgarian National Radio, Interview of Lachesar Tsvetkov with Vera Petrova – On 12 February the Sofia Opera will present the spectacle "Eugene Onegin"

On 12 February at the Sofia Opera and ballet will be presented the spectacle “Eugene Onegin”. In the broadcast “Something more” on “Horizont” the stage director of the opera “Eugene Onegin” Vera Petrova tells us about the work on the opera:

The most difficult is that Pushkin’s novel is much more comprehensive than the opera. It is quite more schematic, but Tchaikovsky wrote it exactly so that everybody knows the novel itself and bases himself or herself on these main points, which Pushkin has put in the novel. Unfortunately, the audience of today doesn’t know Pushkin’s novel so well and this was our challenge as a team. We decided to provoke the younger audience with one entirely youthful project, which actually was an idea of Acad. Kartaloff – the opera to be created by young, up to 30-years old singers.

The interview you can here in the audio file.
