PRESS CONFERENCE ABOUT "BORIS GODUNOV" – 23.06, AT 11 h , IN FRONT OF THE ST. ALEXANDER NEVSKY CATHEDRAL

Sofia Opera and Ballet invites you on 23 June at 11 h in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to a press conference, dedicated to the premiere of the opera “Boris Godunov”.

At the press conference  will be present: the director Plamen Kartaloff and the conductors Konstantin Chudovsky and Boris Spasov. In the press conference  will take part the singers and the other participants in the creation of the premiere.

The premiere spectacles of “Boris Godunov” will be on 27, 28 and 29 June and 3 and 4 July at 21 h.

The production in the open air of “Boris Godunov” is under the patronage of the Mayor of Sofia Municipality Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova and it is an important part of and it is an important part of the cultural program of the Capital, in support of the candidature of Sofia for European Capital of Culture in 2019. With it will be celebrated three significant names on the world opera stage. On 18 May 2014 the world marked the 100th Anniversary of the famous bass Boris Christoff. The production is dedicated also to Nicolai Ghiaurov’s 85th Anniversary and it is also in memory of the recently deceased Nicola Ghiuselev – three of them recognised all over the world with their embodiments in the role of Boris Godunov. In 2014 we are marking 90 years of the sanctification of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral too. The premiere of Mussorgsky’s celebrated work of art became possible thanks to the kind support of the Ministry of Culture. The spectacles of “Boris Godunov” are realized with the financial support of United Bulgarian Bank, Sopharma, PIS Petrol, Altinbaș and with the special cooperation of Masha Ilieva Ballet School – the young ballet of Bulgaria. Armeec AD is the official insurance company of the event. The project was financed by Programme “Culture” of the Capital of Sofia Municipality for 2014 and it is realized in support of the candidature of Sofia and the Southwest region for European Capital of Culture – 2019. Media partners are the Bulgarian National Television, the Bulgarian National Radio and Netinfo.
