A Photo exhibition raises “on toes” with our most beautiful ballerinas - Newspaper “Monitor”, 18.12.2019, p. 16

The photo exhibition by Dmitriy Aleksandrov, inspired by the beauty of ballet, can be seen in the PhotoSynthesis Café-gallery at 57, Vasil Levski Blvd. in the Capital till 11 January.

From the frames it is visible that Dmitriy adores ballet. He is delighted by the refined grace and the wonderful geometry of dance, which, however, is reached with hard work, in order to look so easy and fairy like. He is clear about that what is a real feast on the stage is paid with the price of many privations and discipline. As a result, an incredible magic of exquisiteness is achieved.

In his photo project “On toes”, which started in 2015, Aleksandrov is trying to catch this beauty with the help of the ballerinas from the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the Music Theatre. He himself is a programmer and maybe because of his Russian roots or because of the fact that he is in a wheel chair, love for ballet is his way to escape from the rational everyday life. He doesn’t stop travelling. He gives lectures in programming all over the world. He has visited the jungles of South America and the broad expanses of Siberia, the deserts of Africa and the North Pole. And if though according to the general concepts this in his condition may seem impossible, with a lot of devotion and stoicism he manages to do it.

In Dmitriy Aleksandrov’s project “On toes” take part the ballerinas Vyara Ivancheva, Elena Petrova, Katerina Slugina, Marta Petkova, Monika Daskalova, Charlotte Berard and Yulita Todorova.
